"Vase with twelve Sunflowers", Van Gogh

The worldfamous painter Vincent Willem Van Gogh (1853-1890) was a post-impressionist and is assumed to be predecessor of expressionism. "Vase with twelve sunflowers" was painted during his time in Arles (2/1888-5/1889) as a part of the decoration for the "Yellow house".

One year later Vincent committed suicide by a shot in his chest. He died 2 days later. His final words were "La tristesse durera toujours".
