This Imperial Egg has been created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the reign of Tsar Nicolaus II. The Miniatures show the Tsar and his Family as well as important scenes from his reign.

Imperial Egg "Rosebud" by Carl Peter Fabergé

made in 1895 of guilloched enamel, gold and diamonds and given to the Tsarina Alexandra by her husband Tsar Nicolas II in 1895. When opened it reveals a rosebud that beared a golden crown and a ruby-pendant. These treasures are lost now while the rosebud is still where it belongs.

The egg was taken 1917 from the imperial treasury by the revolutionary government, sold to a jeweler in London ten years later and got lost during the 1930ies. In 1980es Malcolm Forbes found it due to a description and bought it from the Fine Art Society, London. Victor Vekselberg, a russian oligarch, bought it from the Forbes Collection with 8 other Imperial Eggs and several Fabergé-Masterpieces of Art for 100 Million US-$ - since then he showed them on display throughout Europe. Mr. Vekselberg is said to own the greatest private collection of 9 imperial eggs.
