Total solar eclipse (8.4.2024) Mexico > USA > Canada

 I was curious to see a total solar eclipse on the peak of solar activity, which means that the so-called solar corona will be of spectacular visibility. Unfortunately I couldn't be there, but I watched the NASA broadcast and took some screenshots.

Penumbral solar eclipse 20-03-2015 (Germany)

The Day started with dense fog (6:45 CET)

 

 Never look at the sun without special sunglasses!

The moon starts to hide the sun at 9:48 CET

9:50 - 11:28 CET

Photos taken with the same camera angle and without adapting them. 

We had about 76% coverage of the sun and it went darker like on a very cloudy day.

In fact, it was a bit colder during the solar eclipse, too, and the birds stopped peeping and singing.

The next solar eclipse in Germany will take place in the 2080ies...

I guess I'll not witness this event, but the next penumbral solar eclipse will be in 2022
