Flight of the Vickers Vimy
In 1919 an award was given to those completing the first flight from England to Australia. On 10th december 1919 (in fact, I was born exactly 49 years later) two Australian pilots landed with a Vickers Vimy in Darwin. The puzzle shows the Vickers Vimy while crossing the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. In 1994 a crew startet in England to follow the historic Vimy except Iraq.
The route (historic): Hunslow (12.11.1919) - France - Italy - Greece - Egypt - Israel - Syria - Iraq - Kuwait - Iran - Pakistan - India - Myanmar - Malaysia - Sumatra - East Timor - Australia (10.12.1919) * 11060 Miles
The route (modern crew): Farnborough (11.9.1994) - France - Italy - Greece - Egypt - Saudi-Arabia - Oman - Pakistan - India - Myanmar - Malaysia - Sumatra - Australia (22.10.1994) * 11374 Miles
