Herrenchiemsee New Palace
King Ludwig II. of Bavaria chose the island Herrenchiemsee, locacted in the lake called Chiemsee, in late 19th century (1873) to build a palace of pride and fame, dedicated to the french King Louis XIV. - the sun king.
He was not just inspired by Versailles, but also copied it - including the interieur architecture and design. When Ludwig II died in 1886, the palace and gardens were still uncompleted.
