Total Lunar Eclipse 28th September 2015

Today we could observe a very special total lunar eclipse of the harvest moon.
The full moon is covered by the shadow of the earth while he's at nearest distance to the earth.  - due to its elliptic orbit around the earth. That's why he 's 10% taller and 30% brighter than usual.
Additionally to that, once fully covered, he glows red. The vernacular says, it's a 'bloody moon'.

Okay, I set the alarm on 2 am CET and started to observe the shadow 'swallowing' the moon

 27th Sept. - 19:38 CET

The moon at night: 2:21-2:58 am CET

from this moment I tried various adjustments to find the best angle and image of the red moon
no photoshop - just a 300mm lens, a cut-out and pure joy at  4:45 CET

It's a dance of the sun, the earth and the moon
5:28 CET

at least, the sun 'wins' and takes back the moon ;-)
5:41 - 6:50 CET

another adjustment

while the moon is in full 'bloom' again, the day rises in the east
6:50 CET

Hope you enjoyed the astronomic event.
