Queen Elizabeth I
The so-called Ditchley-Portait
by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger (1561-1636)
The portrait was ordered by Sir Henry Lee, owner of Ditchley House, in 1592 to commemorate a royal visit. The portrait measures 1,5 x 2,4 m and was painted in oil on canvas. The Queen, almost 60 years old when portrayed, rests her feet on cards of the britishes isles. Just explore this amazing and breathtaking robe!
