Heartbreaking news from Paris

Yesterday we had to face a devastating blaze. It destroyed the spire and huge parts
of the wooden truss as well as a few parts of the vault of the worldfamous cathedral
I was sitting in front of the TV watching the fires raging through the roof - literally bound.
I felt like crying.

Groundbreaking was in 1163
Main relics are the crown of thorns that Jesus Christ worn and a nail of the cross of Jesus Christ

It seems to be a miracle that no single person was harmed - as far as I know right now.
Thanks to 400 firefighters of Paris the blaze could be extinguished today.
Hopefully the two main towers and the remaining facade are solid enough to reconstruct the cathedral.

The damages are massiv and I am afraid to see the pictures from inside the cathedral.
No idea if artwork mounted on the walls as well as the the rose window
which dates back to the 13th century (!!) is still in place!

The cathedral is a symbol of France, a symbol of Paris - and a zero road distance point.
12-13 million people visit "our lady of Paris" annually. I have visited this masterpiece of french gothic architecture several times in my life.

... to be updated from time to time ...
