Palace and garden in the baroque era

Illustrated by Hans Joachim Dräger

Swans have always been a symbol of royalty

people in the gardens, dressed in typical baroque garments and hairstyle

Guests arrive in a carriage and pair of white horses on the "courtyard of honours"

A special flower-bed called "Embroidery", because it looks like an embroidered fabric

A maze or Labyrinth

Sometimes small castles have been extended to huge palaces. In this illustration the castle has been built inside a lake. It is now connected to the palace.

This is the so-called "grand terrasse" with bassins, flower-beds and fountains. In the baroque era the guests should be impressed by the beauty and extraordinary design as well as the possibility of the landlord to subordinate nature to his will and "power".

WOUNDED - just a few - enter at your own risk

Is war an answer to fight for peace, freedom and democracy?
Often ... maybe ... yes??

The soldiers shown in the exhibition paid the highest price possible
(except of the death on the fields). They show their injuries with pain
and pride and need respect. They fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.
All soldiers are shown with name and military rank!

When the exhibition was announced, I was a bit afraid of "Legacy of War".
I was afraid that I might feel like a voyeur although these are portraits
of soldiers back from war, not a documentary of war.

When I decided to go to the museum, the war of agression of Wladimir Putin
against the Ukraine started....
