Through the ages: Baroque
clockwise description, starting top left:
N. Kopernikus /heliocentric cosmos (1660)
Galileo Galilei and his writings about cosmic systems (1635)
fashion (grand robe) / french court (1650)
G.F. Händel (composer) and an excerpt from "Messiah" (1742)
J.S. Bach and an excerpt from the "Matthäuspassion" (1736)
right below Bach: A. Vivaldi and an excerpt from "L'Estro Armonico" (1712)
a violine made by A. Stradivari (1690)
Detail of "Las Meninas" by Velazquez (1656)
Sculpture "Apoll & Daphne" by G.L. Bernini (1622)
Painting by P.P. Rubens "Daughters of Leukippos" (1618)
Louis XIV. by H. Rigaud (1701)
(baroque)
Painting by P.P. Rubens "Jesus and John with angels" (1615)
Painting by N. Poussin "Et in arcadia ego" (1650)
Detail "Bacchus" by Caravaggio ( 1593)
Portait of Sir Isaac Newton and an excerpt of his writing about optics (1701)
black/white: Portrait of J. Kepler and a model of the solar system (1596)
in the middle:
detail of a painting called "Perspective view of the palace and gardens of Versailles" by Pierre Patel, 1668
Often, this picture is shown in a correct and a false way. If you want to be sure about the correct perspective: it is important that the horses and carriages are coming in to the court from the right side! Another hint: the house that carries a waterreservoir on top is the former "thetis fountain" (this building does not exist anymore). This was on the right side, too.

Puzzles I solved many years ago

Inspiration
If I get lost in pieces that don't want to fit, it seems to be a great inspiration to see how others solve much bigger puzzles.
For example "Life" (see link) with 24.000 pcs. After reading how a family managed to finish a big piece in just 1 month, I finished some more parts of my "portrait" which is named "Reflejos de cristal" by the artist Victoria Francés.
