London Bridge 1616
Vintage Jigsaw by "Welcom", dated approx. 1950ies

The King and Queen depicted are James I. (1566-1625) and his Queen Anne.
Rebuilt in the 12th century after the demolition of several wooden bridges, the stone bridge was the only way to pass the river Thames.

In the Middle of the 19th century, a new bridge was constructed and the old London Bridge had to be destroyed due to her age (600 years) and technical lacks.

Visit of the Queen of England at Cherbourg (France) in August 1858

in August 1858 Emperor Napoleon III. inaugurated the conjunction of train between Cherbourg and Paris. I guess that this masterpiece was painted to commemorate the event.

The jigsaw is made by F.X. chmidt (Germany) - it seems to be old, it is complete and in an adorable condition. It took just a few days to assemble it :-)
