Corfe Castle Ruins

A Wentworth Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle with Whimsies

Corfe Castle is situated on a hilltop in Dorset, Southengland.
It was built by William the Conqueror in 11th century and is named to be the first castle to be built of stone while other castles were built with earth and timber.

In the small town with the same name is a shop called "Ginger Pop Shop"  which sells all related to Enid Blyton, the famous english writer. She visited Corfe in the 1940ies during a holiday and it is said that the norman castle ruins inspired her to create Kirrin Castle in the  FAMOUS FIVE.

In fact, Enid Blyton died almost 2 weeks before I was born.... but I loved her books when I was a young girl! :-)
