Development process of a 6000pcs-Puzzle - assembled quarter by quarter (1st quarter completed, next to come)

10 years (!) ago I bought this outstandingly beautiful jigsaw puzzle from a friend and kept it safe in my stockpile. I bought it because it was split in 4 quarters and I hold on the possibility to decide if I mix them up - or not. I opened the box several times and now. almost 10 years and many jokes about my delaying tactics later, the box was open and I didn't close it instantly.

Allegoria della vista et del'olfatto by Jan Brueghel the Elder, approx. 1620

Prado, Madrid

In fact I couldn't find a decision which quarter should be released first and I asked my friends from my germany jigsaw forum. It's always a bit easier ;-) and they pushed me to open the upper left quarter. The most challenging one? For sure!

These are my successes from 9th to 26th May 2023

And it's about those blackcoloured pieces again... 230 pcs. left ... never give up!

Addition to my visit to Bavaria

Missed these pictures from a church in a small town close to Freilassing (Bavaria)

The church is dedicated to St. Martin

The building looks unsophisticated but neat

Inside you might explore the full splendor of bavarian craftmanship.

A first appearance of a church might have been documented in the early 9th century. During the 2nd half of the 15th century a late gothic long dwelling has been built, but didn't survive exept of the western tower (without the baroque spine). In the middle of the 19th century they wanted to expand the church due to increasing numbers of inhabitants in this small town. The church should have been rebuilt, but financial issues ruined the plans.

During Holy Week all crucifixes and the high altar are hide away.
The ceiling has been painted by Georg Gschwendtner (1947/50)

The organ loft

A niche with 11 skulls, some of the are dated to the middle of the 19th c.

A side altar sanctified to Our Lady of Lourdes

This writing on a simple piece of paper, mounted on a column says

If you believe, pray.
If you do not believe, admire.
If you're well educated, show veneration.
