With a Börteboat around Helgoland
Illustration by Gerd Mokansky, a german artist who lives on the island helgoland (as far as I know)
The Helgoland Börteboat (also Rudder on Helgoland) is an approximately ten meter long and three meter wide boat made of solid oak with a draft of approximately one meter. The Börteboat weighs around eight tons. It is used to transport people in the summer (“disembarkation”) between the seaside resort ships anchored in the Heligoland roadstead and the landing stage.
