A weekend full of jigsaw puzzles and fun (25th-27th August 2023)

Usually I choose the Megamarathon to push away everything that's not related to jigsaw puzzles, but the past weekend was a very special one. No stress to assemble as many jigsaw puzzles as possible.

A close friend and her husband visited us - we know each other so many years and are both members in the german jigsaw forum.

She completed the 2nd quarter of the Brueghel and began the 3rd, meanwhile she assmbled many 500-pcs-puzzles as well as "Pixels"

I accompagnied her on a walk to find out about geocaching and we assembled many jigsaw puzzles as well.

 These are mine :-)

A hymn about fine chocolate

Selecting suitable snacks while solving puzzles can be difficult.
I do not offer any food or drinks on the table when I have loaners
I avoid anything oily like chips or sugar-coated sweets as well.
I prefer gummy bears, wrapped sweets or small pieces of chocolate

During that time, I came across the manufacturer  Tony's Chocolonely.
I would like to introduce this brand to you, which is not only committed to fair trade
but also other values.

The bars come with 180g (!) and a slogan:
Crazy about chocolate. Serious about people.

Not only do they want fair traded chocolate, they also want to end modern slavery.
Globally. We all want to enjoy chocolate with a heroic background (yes, I am an idealist)
and a good mind about the way it's been produced.

This is where I had my "Willy Wonka" moment. Remember when Charlie Bucket held
a bar of chocolate in his tiny hands and carefully removed the foil to find his golden ticket?
I smoothed the foil so that you can guess the pattern of the bar

Here we go - a bar of chocolate (whole milk)

The pattern is unusual and creative, no "German" rectangular squares but
various options to break it - and share it

If you want to know more, much more about Tony's Chocolonely, you may follow this link. Learn about modern slavery and illegal child labor in  Africa - and how to avoid it.

This is not an advertising, I do not earn anything and I can not influence anyone to buy cheap or better chocolate. It is only an impulse to be more conscious with global resources and the people who have to deal with them.

Sometimes it's worth thinking about
eating less but higher quality.

"Wum" is a cartoon dog created by german comedian Loriot (1923-2011).

The jigsaw puzzle was made by Ravensburger and dates back to 1973.
The puzzle cost 7.80 DM - 1.50 DM was a charity share for the benefit of the Aktion Sorgenkind campaign
The Aktion Mensch ("Mensch" means "human") registered association (up to 1 March 2000: "Aktion Sorgenkind", Sorgenkind can be translated as "children in need") is a German social organisation which was formed on the initiative of the ZDF, a German television channel, in 1964 and is financed from the Lottery. The organisation supports inclusion, which may be defined as equality for all in the community.

"Das große Mainzelmännchen Puzzle"
The Mainzelmännchen are six comedic cartoon characters used as mascots for German public service television broadcaster ZDF. They first aired on television in 1963 as a way to accommodate a government regulation disallowing confusion between advertising and content. The cartoon characters served as a transition between the two.

The jigsaw puzzle was made by Ravensburger and dates back to 1968.
