The Exhibition - 3 years later (update July 2017)

2013
Just talked to a friend about the exhibition of vintage jigsaw puzzles last year.
I can't believe how time rushed by since it closed and all jigsaws were stored safely.
And I can't believe that I still find jigsaw puzzles I can add to my collection.
Here are my blog-articles:
The Exhibition Part One and Part Two and the YouTube-Video (a walk-around without comments)
Did I ever mention that I received a letter
from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II?

Schwerin Castle, aerial view (detail)
Photography by H. Hoyer

custom made jigsaw puzzle by fotopuzzle.de

The Castle was built in the early 12th century as a fort and rebuilt as a noble castle in late medieval times. In the 18th century the court moved to Castle Ludwigslust due to large rebuildings of the castle. Today the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern resides here. If you want to know more about the castle's story, just click here

A ghost called "Petermännchen" is told to be seen in the castle - in a 17th-century-gown. You may doubt on it, but there are several legends told about this tiny little man.

Last year my husband and I visited the Garden and took some photographies
that correspond to this jigsaw puzzle:

1) "Situation Dictionary" by artist Kamil Kuskowski (Poland)
the frame should have been removed by 16th september 2012 but is still there.
It is used as a kind of pragmatic 'every-day-art' by promenaders. These are my impressions:

2) The Colonnades and Orangerie:
built in the 19th century
In the Baroque Era, the Orangerie was used to house lemon trees and other exotic plants during the harsh winter period.

The fountain in the middle of the Colonnades. The top rotates and creates a water game that
looks like a newel.

The 'broderie'-Garden and the Orangerie - just imagine the smell of the fresh air because it rained a few minutes before I took this photo:

3) The Grotto

4) An impression of the Rosarium
 rosa indica noisetteana 'Blush Noisette'
cultured by Schultheiss 1817

5) The Tree in front of the Castle:

It was raining again and again that day and we run for cover under the huge tree for almost 20 minutes...

Yas Island
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Picture shows the Yas Marina Circuit and the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi as well as the Golf Course and the Yas Hotel. The Picture was taken from the project "Human Footprints" and turned into a jigsaw puzzle by "satuzzle", an ambitious german manufacturer of jigsaw puzzles, located in Düsseldorf.

The word "satuzzle" is a combination of satellite imagery and jigsaw puzzle

A treasure from the 1980ies or: a present from my younger "me" - Update 27th June

I found this treasure in my parent's home today.
A Worldmap of 1650

The Jigsaw Puzzles dates back to 1986!

Seems like I assembled it once and sealed it with the Ravensburger glue:

Yes! It must have been glued, because the pieces stick together

Update 27th June

what more do I have to say? :-)

This is the only problem I have to face right now:
due to glue, storage and age the pieces go their own way...

 City of Rothenburg
Castorland, 3000 pieces

it took almost ten days to assemble the lower part. I devided the puzzle into two parts and can now work on the upper half.

Since then I tried to find my way through clouds of pieces

9th of June:

16th of June - I sorted all pieces to the amount of noses

"White Terriers", photo taken by Sunset/G. Lasz

The West Highland White Terrier is a scottish breed of dog which is still popular in the United Kingdom and the United States. In Germany, the White Terrier became famous due to the advertising of Cesar Dog Food :-)

James VI. of Scotland (16th cent.) wanted to give a dozen of White Terriers as a gift to France although whitecoated dogs were seen as being weak.

The jigsaw puzzle was made in France by "Jeux Nathan" in 1994
